Must See: The “Shaking Through” Project

Shaking Through is a series of recording studio sessions run by Weathervane Music. Basically, each independent outfit is given two days to record a song, from “first take to final mix”… What’s cool about these guys is their dedication to bringing new artists into the industry. The chance to work with a producer on a track helps bands see where their strength lies and where they might find themselves with further dedication. At the end of the session, a video documentary is released online to showcase the band and show the process of recording the song.

The raw tracks (stems) are also released in full for audio engineers and budding producers around the world to cut their teeth on. It’s almost impossible to get these kind of files, and many engineers don’t have the opportunity to work with a full studio session. For those working in home studios, or on their own equipment, the tracks can be used to streamline their own workflow, practise and test mixing techniques and build a portfolio of work.
